Since the launch of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a diverse cast of heroes, and a gripping narrative including divine entities, evil spirits, and malevolent powers expanding in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Key plot points for the latest installment of Campaign 4 are included.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
The third episode finished on a dramatic pause and introduced the first table of heroes who will branch out from the main group to undertake their independent quest, distinct from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table includes Teor (brought to life by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (the cast member), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
Considering a large ensemble, it was evident from the beginning that maintaining everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
Hence, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Prelude, intertwining the characters’ stories before dividing into three smaller tables: Warriors, Planners, and Explorers.
What Defines the Combat Party
Per the DM, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who prefer a classically intense combat and conflict-driven narrative style where non-violent answers are rare.
At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer the cleric might seem unsuited, but the events of episode 3 show why these five characters are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
First, the party knows exactly where to proceed after a brutal first encounter with the enemy group.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose demise kicked off the campaign’s events—manipulated the enemy for his own means, breaking into the hidden lair, striking the character, and stealing all the enchanted items to auction.
The traitor then cleared his debts and escaped to a fortified location in the northern region, north of the city, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each character has a personal reason to depart the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the companion and closest confidant, wants retribution.
- The adventurer has experience in the northern area and advises that it is a dangerous environment.
- The warrior and The cleric, having resisted his family’s wishes to kill the fighter and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their status as prominent individuals in the influential clan could help the team reach locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, The grateful character vowed a eternal obligation to The savior for his deliverance and will now follow him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Finally, all of them are wanted by the authorities that rule Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making lingering locally too risky:
- The rogue and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and The cleric turned against the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- Teor is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This results in them no alternative but to journey toward Timmony in quest for Casimir.
Future Episodes
Based on the recent installment’s post-show segment, we learn that the combat party will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight participants to assemble the Explorers and Schemers parties.
Audiences can anticipate discovering which characters will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on October 24.
