Automobiles in Germany's City Found Covered with Swastikas in Human Blood, Police Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Police mentioned they were notified by a man who discovered a vehicle in Hanau marked with red-colored fluid

Approximately fifty vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by police.

Automobiles, building surfaces and postboxes were defaced, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they reported in a statement.

Officers say they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a resident noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored fluid.

The liquid had been drawn in the shape of a banned symbol, they stated.

Police then discovered multiple other smeared cars and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Swastikas are banned in Germany under regulations outlawing the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.

Officials report initial examinations suggest the substance was most likely human blood.

"Currently there is no indication as to its source; authorities are currently not informed of any injuries in relation with the incident," they commented.

Local authorities stated they were trying "to unravel the incident" and have requested to the public for tips.

A high-ranking political figure commented the attack made him stunned and required to be solved quickly.

"This act affects the core of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the right-wing violent incident five years ago," he posted on online, mentioning the murder of nine people by a assailant aiming at people of immigrant origin in February 2020.
